Beautiful Start

Costa Rica defeated Honduras last night in San Jose 2-0. What a game!!! There was so much expectation and fuss around this match. Honduran press talked so much crap about their squad.. I have to admit something… Honduras has great players but as I said in my last post, they dont play as a team. And last night was no exception. So before you brag about your players, you need to demonstrate on the pitch what you can do. Costa Rica did that. It is very important to have a good start in this final round of the FIFA qualifiers because it gives the team an emotional boost and it sends a good message to the other teams…. Costa Rica has 13 straight undefeated games. Alonso Solis, Bryan Ruiz, Keylor Navas, and Gilberto Martinez missed the match because of injuries.

In the first half, Costa Rica had more ball control, but Honduras was more dangerous with their fast strikers. Costa Rica was unable to break the solid defense and it ended without any goals. On the second half the Ricardo Saprissa Stadium exploded with joy with a header goal by Andy Furtado. Several minutes later, another one by Furtado. This way, Costa Rica beat Honduras, and now has the first three points in the bag. Costa Rica played and intelligent match, and Rodrigo Kenton (HC) played his cards really well.

It was a very tough game, Honduras has a great squad, but in order to advance to the World Cup, you cant just talk the talk… you need to walk the walk, and last night Costa Rica did that. Now Costa Rica stands first with team USA which defeated Mexico… Oh its nice to see everything from the top of the hill…..
