Guimaraes still undecided

By: Bruno | June 21st, 2006 | 1 Comment »

Coach Alexandre Guimaraes is still undecided in regards to whether he will remain ahead of the Costa Rican team or not, now that the World Cup is over for the squad. Despite managing to qualify the country for a second straight World Cup, it was obvious that Guimaraes could not get the most out of his players, who disappointed fans with poor performances in the tournament. Nevertheless, no decision should be made in the heat of the moment, and a final word a month from now would likely be a better option for the National Federation.

A win against Ecuador, which was already necessary prior to the Germany-Poland game, now may be the only result that keeps Costa Rican hopes alive in the tournament. If Costa Rica wants to advance to the second stage of the World Cup, it must beat Ecuador on Thursday. There’s no way around it.
