Costa Rica’s Grands Not So Grand
Both Costa Rican biggies Saprisa and LDA lost their CONCACAF Champions Ligue semifinals against Mexican rivals Toluca and Club America thus making the likelihood of an all mexican final a pretty likely possibility. Saprissa went down 2-0 as visitors if Toluca, while La Liga fared worse as hosts to Club America losing 2-1. Toluca was the better side and using the home field advantage made a good first step toward qualification though in the return in San Jose will be anything but a foregone conclusion, the match looks promising-a Saprissa attempt at catchup will be fun to watch. La Liga on the other hand will have to win as visitors in the Azteca in Mexico City, no mean feat at any time. Sadly, they were by far the better side in their loss at home dominating both territorially and in scoring chances but, well, so is football… Both games will be televised in the US, Saprissa’s promises the better show by far…
