Costa Ricans Out…
Both Costa Rican grands saw their hopes for the CONCACAF Championship of clubs ended last night by their Mexican rivals. The LDA played to a 0-0 in the Azteca in Mexico City against America, had chances, played with courage and verve in spite of the disheartening and undeserved 2-1 loss aweek ago at home which made this game so uphill for the ticos; in spite of the unappetizing score, the show was not half bad… Saprissa had it tough too coming off a 2-0 loss as a visitor of Toluca. After a goalless first half both teams snapped to it and the final 3-2 for Saprissa had all the elements of a great and memorable encounter, a great semifinal which could have gone either way. Both sides lamented the refereeing job, so it was probably fair over all…
