Costa Rica Coach Uneasy

April 1st, 2006 | By: Ted Veler | No Comments »

Costa Rica’s national coach Guimaraes is not too happy with the fact that his side will have only about a month to prepare for Germany2006. With the end of the ligue on April 30th, and the players break until May 9, the Ticos will have exactly a month to prepare for their opening game against Germany on June 9th. Gima would like 8 weeks… So he is not sure about all the team’s players quite yet, and also he is unable to provide much of a prognosis as to their chances. How refreshing, a break from the usual hype…

Still, the one time (1994) Bora Milutinovich charge is fairly set on the core of the squad, F. Porras in goal, Luis Marin in the back, Walter Centeno in the middle, Wanchope and R. Gomez forwards…

The Ticos will travel to Europe mid-May and are scheduled to face the Czech Republic and two other as yet unnamed, (meaning probably smallish local clubs), opponents before the big start of Germany 2006.
