Saprissa Costa Rica Champion!
April 23rd, 2006 | By: Ted Veler | No Comments »
The Costa Rica “clasico” is over, with Deportivo Saprissa beating their eternal foe La Liga Alajuelense 2-1 at home after tying the first part of the final 1-1, thus fulfilling the promise of their flamboyant coach Hernan Medford that they will be champions in spite of a shaky season which saw them barely make the playoffs. La Liga also was not stellar, having its worst season since 1993. In the overall point count for the two seasons, the Apertura and the Clausura, Saprissa wins 85-63 besides being the Apertura champion, so the final outcome is not all together undeserved although La Liga fans certainly disagree.
