Playing for its pride
After being eliminated from the World Cup, Costa Rica has only its pride to play for when it faces Poland tomorrow in Hannover. Having never left the World Cup without a win - in its two previous participations in the World Cup finals, it always managed to get at least one win -, the Ticos say they still have some motivation for their last game in the tournament. Coach Alexandre Guimaraes, whose future ahead of the National team has not yet been confirmed, commanded the last training session in Walldorf this Sunday. The team is already in Hannover, and will go to the stadium today to train and see the venue of tomorrow’s match. Players have been obviously sad after the losses to Germany and Ecuador, but promise to make fans proud in the last game. For all Costa Ricans, a win would certainly erase the sadness of the premature elimination. Even though Poland has also been eliminated, it won’t be an easy match for the Central Americans, that’s for sure.
