Minor incident with team bus at airport
Upon arriving back in Germany from Spain this morning, the Costa Rican National team had a small surprise with the bus that was supposed to be waiting for the players at the airport. The World Cup organizing committee had planned for the bus to wait for the team beside the airplane that brought Costa Rica back from Barcelona. However, when the bus arrived at the airport, it found all security gates that give access to the runways locked. A bolt-cutter had to be used to open the gate and let the bus reach the plane. After the incident, the squad was taken to its hotel in Walldorf, where it will remain during the World Cup. This weekend, however, it will travel to Ukraine and then the Czech Republic, for a couple of friendly matches before the tournament begins on June 9.
