An MRI revealed that defender Gilberto Martinez will not be able to play for Costa Rica in friendlies before the World Cup. However, the injury to his left knee will be treated and he’ll be able to return in time to play in the game against Germany, on June 9. Team doctors say he will likely remain sidelined for a week, returning to practice after the team’s friendly against the Czech Republic, on May 31.
