Iran vs Costa Rica… We Are ON!
After much back and forth between political correctness and sport, finally the Fedefut saw its way clear to send the ticos, FIFA ranked 25th, to Iran, FIFA ranked 22nd, to measure their progress toward Germany 2006. The duel will take place in the Teheran’s 100,000 capacity stadium even though some 60,000 fans are expected to attend which ain’t half badly for a friendly. And if women were allowed to attend, well, there probably would be a lot more in attendance; speculating here, may be they could attend if they didn’t show too much to incite the passions? I don’t know… Meanwhile Wanchope has a “slight” muscle problem so no Iranian journey for him, ditto for Saprissa’s J. Drummond, hmm… Could it be a case of travel aversion for the stars?
Over the weekend the Costa Rica classico between Saprissa and La Liga Alajuelense ended 0-0, still, not without the usual fireworks.
