Costa Rica’s Wanchope at 100
The greatest ever Costa Rican player Paolo Wanchope reached his 100th club goal as his present team Heredia beat Santos 2-0. His illustrious career has seen him score in Derby County, West Ham, Manchester City, Malaga, and Al Gharrafa of Qatar. His beginnings were in his present Heredia where he apparently is slumming until after Germany 2006. That according to his latest statement: “Right now I am happy here, near my family, in the city where I was born but I am comfortable abroad, I’ve played football on the best world level, and I want to be back there…” The fans seem to understand. Wanchope is the highest ever Costa Rican scorer in the national team with 43 goals in 67 games.
