Costa Rica’s Stopper
Luis Marin is the central left defender the ticos will count on to hold back the opponents strikers. Shaved head, three days shadow, and impressive physique, well, for Costa Rica anyway, at 6′2″ and 180 lbs, Marin is their currently most experienced player with 116 international matches. As this position is apt to require, Marin is steady, powerful, and fearless if not always errorfree. At 31, the ticos captain is a long time member of the Liga Alajuelense rarely missing a game in the last ten seasons of the Costa Rica’s extensive club schedule. Likely to be his last World Cup appearance the fans can count on him to give it his all regardless of outcome and other considerations.
