Costa Ricans Open Minded
Carlos Alberto Pareirra, the manager of Brazil says that he would not select a gay player for the brazilian team IF he knew that he was gay. That said, tactfully he added that once selected, if a player who was worthy of being on the team turned out to be gay, well, that would be ok… “Not that such situation had ever been a reality in the Brazil team, it’d be very challenging,” he added.
On the same subject the ticos are more practical: “If they contribute to the team, their sexual tastes are nobody’s business”, says Danny Fonseca.
Randall Azofeifa thinks that “all persons’ desires should be respected and valued”, and Cristian Bolanos mentions that he had no problem with at least one “certain player” in the minor league but he doesn’t know what happened to him as he never made it to the top ligue.
