Costa Rica in Germany
The Ticos flew back to Frankfurt, Germany from Spain yesterday on their way to their base in the town of Walldorf, home of the fifth division Asturia FC. They were met warmly by the locals and supporters with flowers and banners led by Rolf Hocke, a vice president of the German Football Federation. The lovefest was dampened however by rain and temperatures in the low forties which for the tropical Ticos was, well, unpleasant. “Your feet hurt before you warm up, then you have to wear a lot of clothes not to catch a cold”, Daniel Fonseca was quoted, reflecting the broader opinion of the team. Costa Rica will travel tomorrow to Kiev where they will play against host Ukraine, another Germany finalist. Hopefully they will play better than their last outing in Spain…
