March 2nd, 2006 | By: Ted Veler | No Comments »

Much worlwide national sides friendlies this March 1st as FIFA tries to coordinates dates of international competitions. The controversial Iran-Costa Rica was played at the Teheran’s Azadi (Freedom) stadium before some 70,000+ fans, and it was a thriller. The hosts were ahead 3-0 by the 35th minute but the rout was not to be as the ticos regrouped and were in the game by the 60th minute with two goals by Carlos Hernandez and Danny Fonseca. The second half was in fact all Costa Rica and only bad luck, and the goal post, kept them from equalizing.

Another Group A rival, Poland faced the USA natonal side in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and lost 0-1. Next Costa Rica frienly is scheduled for May against the Czech Republic.
