Costa Rica Coach Speaks

February 24th, 2006 | By: Ted Veler | No Comments »

The ticos brazilian coach Alexandre Guimaraes in a recent interview with british daily likes England or Holland to win the cup… Being brazilian himself that is a little odd. One thing brazilians are not shy about is their country’s football prowess, always. May be since it was an interview with a british newspaper he was trying to be nice. Most likely England will stumble into the 16 and than go home while lamenting the treatment they received in Germany by their hosts and everybody else-if history holds true.
And the dutch, they play that “attractive wide open football” of course! Hmm… The coach is fairly reasonable about his charges chances, round of 16. Poland will have great support being close to Germany, Ecuador is an unknown. Guimaraes’ ticos have the advantage of having been together forever, with great experience, i.e., a little long in the tooth and ready for the new generation. That will be after Germany 2006.
