A better preparation
Coach Alexandre Guimaraes believes Costa Rica’s
preparation for this year’s World Cup is better than
the one employed four years ago, in the 2002 World Cup
in South Korea and Japan. Though he must know the time
and plan used prior to the trip could always be
better, the coach thinks lots can still be
accomplished with training in Germany during the final
weeks of preparation. And two friendlies against
European countries that also made the finals (Ukraine
and the Czech Republic) can only help in building up
confidence for the official games up ahead. With a
good plan, training grounds and conditions for players
to think solely about the tournament, it’s not
unreasonable for the Costa Rican people to have some
good expectations about the team’s future in the
tournament.
